Meet Nick Molo
Deep Iowa Roots
Nick Molo is a fifth-generation Iowan born and raised in Dubuque. He runs his family business founded in 1870 in Dubuque that employs 250 people.
Strong Work Ethic
Nick started working at a young age, mowing grass, cleaning the HVAC shop, filing papers, and painting gas pumps. He later worked at Hy-Vee, in restaurants, and in retail. After college, he worked in the financial services sector for eight years, eventually becoming a business development analyst before transitioning to running his family business, Molo Companies. He believes self-reliance through hard work is a bedrock American and conservative principle.
IOWA COMMON SENSE
Nick’s not a career politician, but he could no longer stand by with crime on the rise and good paying jobs leaving Dubuque for other states and countries.
Nick is not beholden to any political party or donor, he’s a political outsider and businessman who thinks we need more common-sense Iowans representing Dubuque in Des Moines. In the Senate, he will fight for what’s best for Iowa families, workers, and job creators and work with anyone who’s willing to put Iowa and America first – regardless of whether they’re a Republican or Democrat.
On The Issues
JOBS & ECONOMY
Over the last year, business leaders have challenged the city council about the hostile environment that makes it hard to create and support good-paying jobs.
Longstanding Iowa businesses are also leaving, taking jobs to other states and countries. AY McDonald Manufacturing chose to move a significant portion of operations and begin construction of a new foundry in Wisconsin, despite having been founded in Dubuque in 1856. John Deere is shifting a production unit to Mexico, costing our community more than 200 jobs – including union jobs.
Nick will fight to keep every good-paying job here in Iowa and support policies in the Senate that will make it easier to do business and raise a family in Iowa – not harder.
CRIME & PUBLIC SAFETY
Crime is becoming a problem in downtown Dubuque. Nick believes we need policies in Iowa that support our police and punish criminals – not the other way around. He will support common sense policies like enhanced penalties for drug dealers and more resources for law enforcement so they can protect our Iowa communities.
BORDER SECURITY & IMMIGRATION
The disastrous open border policies of the Biden Administration have turned every state in America into a border state, bringing crime and deadly drugs like fentanyl into our communities and stretching state and local resources thin in order to provide food, housing, and other benefits to illegal immigrants.
Nick will always oppose any taxpayer benefits to illegal immigrants and will support all policies that help crack down on the dangerous effects of Biden’s open border on Iowa.
OPPOSE THE WOKE AGENDA
Today’s elected leadership in the Democrat Party has shifted extremely to the left, now promoting policies well outside the mainstream. Iowans of all political stripes, even registered Democrats and Independents, know that the ‘woke’ ideology is harmful to our state, its residents, and especially our children.
Nick will be a voice in Des Moines for common sense. He will oppose radical ideas like men playing women’s sports, gender ideology and critical race theory being taught in our schools, and will fight against ‘environmental, social, and governance’ rules that restrict the ability to do business.
PROTECTING LIFE & SUPPORTING MOTHERS
Nick believes all life is a gift from God and must be protected and strong, healthy families are the key to Iowa’s success. Like all issues, Nick approaches the issue of abortion with the common sense of a regular Iowan.
He will always oppose any attempts to allow late-term abortions or taxpayer funding for abortion. He supports exceptions in Iowa law for the life and health of the mother, rape, incest, or if the baby is not expected to survive the pregnancy and would not vote for a total ban that eliminates these exceptions. He will be a strong supporter in the Senate for increased resources for pregnant mothers who need them.
